Hello dear reader,

I am Margo De Weerdt, welcome to my website!

I have been drawing from the moment my hand could hold a pencil. Technically speaking, from the moment finger paints and a sheet of paper were in front of me. Somewhere along the way, after filling up many school books and margins with doodles and drawings, I decided to make art the centrepiece of my education at the age of 14. Countless more papers full of drawing, painting and scribbling.

After finishing grammar school, I went on to study at Sint-Lucas Antwerpen, University of Applied Sciences, from which I graduated in 2015 with a master in graphic design and illustration.

My first job was at a bigger graphic design company. In my three years there, I did a range of jobs for different clients, such as publishing houses, advertising agencies or insurance companies.

I took a great leap in 2019, and jumped into the freelance existence.

For the next five years I worked as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer. I worked on commissions for smaller businesses and individuals. Followed a bookbinding course for a year. Started a webshop. Made Sketchbooks full of drawings. In short, I grew as a person and as an artist.

And then… halfway through 2023 I felt the need to take an even bigger leap; I left my beloved Antwerp behind, and moved to Strasbourg, France. It was quite something! A plunge into a new adventure. Several suitcases full of drawing materials, hundreds of sheets of paper, two book presses, my grumpy old tomcat and too many boxes of paraphernalia moved with me.

After six months of settling into a new environment and learning French, I plunged myself into the arcane art of French law, filled in the necessary paperwork, and am presently (again) the proud owner of my one-woman business since October 2024.

As you have no doubt taken from this website, I am now fully invested in my artistic activities, (i.e. no fucking logos,) and am pleased to call myself a fulltime illustrator and artist.

Do you feel like working together? I am open to various projects and commissions, whether it be: a poster, flyer, portraits, paintings, illustrations, lino prints, a book, murals etc. Drop me a line at contact@margodeweerdt.com!

PS: I create all my artworks, illustration and prints (linocut or monotypes) myself, without the use of AI.
If work or prints are made in collaboration with others, this will always be acknowledged.
